Concept:

Create a small house booklet.

Objective:

Use a House booklet to illustrate and write about special members of the family.

Create individual family booklets for students. Students can draw each member of their family on a separate page of the booklet. Some students may write a short phrase or sentence next to the picture to describe a special attribute of that family member.

Supplies Used: Cardstock, Glue, Marking Pen (Black)

The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.

  1. Die-cut the House from green cardstock or construction paper. Fold the door along the perforation (Figure A).
  2. Die-cut the House #2 from yellow cardstock or construction paper and adhere to the green House, making sure not to adhere the green door to the yellow paper.
  3. Die-cut a second House #2 from green cardstock or construction paper as the back cover.
  4. Die-cut House #2 from several sheets of white paper to create pages.
  5. Assemble the front cover, pages and back cover and staple to create a book.
  6. Write the title "My Family" on the front cover (see Main Photo).
