Celebrate your transportation unit with a fun bulletin board showcasing locomotives. Create multiple transportation cut-outs for playtime and allow students to decorate their favorite vehicle to take home.

Supplies Used: Cardstock, Chalk, Crayons, Glue, Paper (Lined), Pens (Colored), Scissors

The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.

  1. Use various colors of cardstock or construction paper as the backing for each reading group poster.
  2. Computer or hand print the title of each group, including the color of the backing paper, on a strip of white paper. Adhere to the top of each colored poster.
  3. Adhere a slightly smaller sheet of lined paper to each colored poster (see Main Photo).
  4. Die-cut the AllStar Train #2, Box Car, Train #2 Caboose, Train #2, Locomotive and Train #2, Tank Car using various colors of paper.
  5. Leave one of each die-cut shape whole. Cut highlights from the other matching die-cut shapes and layer to embellish. Colored pens, crayons or chalk may also be used to embellish the die-cut shapes.
  6. The embellished Train shapes may be placed above the list of each reading group poster.
