K-4 Standard 1: Understanding and Applying Media, Techniques and Processes
- Students use different media, techniques and processes to communicate ideas, experiences and stories.
K-4 Standard 3: Choosing and Evaluating a Range of Subject Matter, Symbols and Ideas
- Students select and use subject matter, symbols and ideas to communicate meaning.
Students can create either a Snowman card or tag as desired. Cards can accompany student-made gifts and are fun to display on tables or the mantelpiece during the holiday season. A Snowman tag is easy for younger students and can be attached to gifts with a simple ribbon. Teachers can create tags for the class and attach a special treat for each student.
Supplies Used: Cardstock, Glue, Scissors, Tape (Double-Sided)
The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.
Snowman Tag
- Die-cut the AllStar Snowman & Hat body using white cardstock or construction paper.
- Die-cut the Hat using black paper.
- Die-cut the arms of the Snowman using brown paper.
- Die-cut the nose using orange paper.
- Adhere the Hat, arms and nose to the body of the Snowman.
- Write a short message on the Snowman's body (see Main Photo).
Snowman Card
- Fold in half a piece of paper that is twice as wide as the Snowman.
- Lay the folded edge of the paper just INSIDE the cutting edge on the side of the die to make the die-cut open like a card.
- Place the die and paper, rubber side down, into the Ellison Machine and cut.
- Follow steps 2 through 5 of the Snowman tag to embellish the Snowman card.
- Write a short message inside the card (see Main Photo).
