Framed Art for Any Occasion

Concept:

Create fun frames and cards that fit 2 x 3 to 3 x 5 student art for any holiday or occasion!

Objective:

Highlight student art with this unique frame and celebrate anything from holidays to achievement.

Create versatile frames to fit 2"x 3" or 3" x 5" artwork. Place the student's framed art on their desk as a special surprise for parents at Back-to-School Night. These personal treasures can be created as gifts for Mother's Day, Father's Day, Valentine's Day, Christmas or any occasion. Alternatively, decorate and insert class pictures for holiday fun!

Supplies Used: Button, Cardstock or Construction Paper, Colored Pencils, Crayons, Glue, Ribbon

The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.

  1. Die-cut the Frame, School Picture from various colors of cardstock or construction paper.
  2. Use the slits to insert either 2 x 3, 2 ½ x 3 ½ or 3 x 5 student art (Figure A).
  3. Fold along perforations so that the artwork is either on the inside or outside of the frame (Figure B).
  4. In this project, the artwork is on the inside of the frame (see Main Photo).
  5. Die-cut a Flower or any desired shape. Mat onto a small square to fit the cover of the Frame.
  6. Adhere ribbon to the Frame cover, allowing extra length for a bow.
  7. Adhere the matted Flower to the cover of the Frame and ribbon. Embellish with a button.
  8. Use these Frames to share art with friends and family, as holiday gifts or to decorate bulletin boards (see Main Photo).
