Concept:
Create a Pop-Up Card for any holiday or event.
Objective:
Design an inspirational Judaic card to celebrate holidays and special occasions.

Standard 1: Understanding and Applying Media, Techniques and Processes
- K-4 - Students use different media, techniques and processes to communicate ideas, experiences and stories.
- 5-8 - Students intentionally take advantage of the qualities and characteristics of art media, techniques and processes to enhance communication of their experiences and ideas.
Standard 3: Choosing and Evaluating a Range of Subject Matter, Symbols and Ideas
- K-4 - Students select and use subject matter, symbols and ideas to communicate meaning.
- 5-8 - Students integrate visual, spatial and temporal concepts with content to communicate intended meaning in their artworks.
Supplies Used: Cardstock, Construction Paper, Double-Sided Tape, Glue, Pen, Scissors
The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson:
- Die-cut the Pop-Up Card #2 from blue cardstock or construction paper. Fold Pop-Up tabs forward (Figure A).
- Mat the Card with various colors of cardstock or construction paper to create a larger card (Figure B).
- Die-cut the Synagogue from various colors of cardstock or construction paper. Keep one shape whole and cut away highlights from another color. Layer and adhere (Figure C).
- Adhere Synagogue to inside of the Pop-Up Card.
- Adhere construction paper to the cover and attach a Star of David.
- Write a heartfelt sentiment on the cover and inside the card (see Main Photo).
