Fizz, Boom, Read! Bookend

Concept:

Create thematic bookends to celebrate any reading or library theme.

Objective:

Decorate bookends according to subject area or theme for both the classroom and library.

Inspire year-round reading with student-created bookends to suit all occasions. Create bookends to supplement reading lessons, library themes or celebrate holidays.

Supplies Used: Cardstock, Colored Pens or Pencils, Construction Paper, Glitter, Glue, Pop Dots, Tape (Double Sided)

The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.

  1. Adhere colored paper to the bookends.
  2. Use the eclips machine to cut the Edge, Science pieces. Adhere to the bookend.
  3. Die-cut the Monsters and Caption Boxes using multiple colors of cardstock or construction paper.
  4. Keep one of each Monster shape whole and cut highlights from other shapes. Layer and adhere to embellish. Decorate with colored pens or pencils.
  5. Use pop dots behind shapes as desired to create dimension and adhere Monsters to bookend.
  6. Add words or a phrase to each Caption Box. Use pop dots as desired and adhere to complete the bookend (see Main Photo).
