Concept:

Lace a cross to enhance motor skills and remember Bible verses.

Objective:

Students use fine motor skills to lace unique shapes that celebrate holidays and spiritual growth.

Standard 1: Understanding and Applying Media, Techniques and Processes

Physical Education: Movement Forms

Support youngsters with fun lacing projects to develop fine motor skills. Painting and cutting activities promote motor skills and reinforce movement concepts in the classroom. Use ribbons and lace to expose students to multiple textures and patterns. Development of fine motor skills will enable students to gain competency in drawing and writing.

Supplies Used: Cardstock, Marker (Black), Ribbon, Scissors, Yarn

The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.

  1. Die-cut XL Lacing Cross using brown cardstock or construction paper.
  2. Use a black marker to write a Bible verse or message.
  3. Cut a 4' length of ribbon or yarn for lacing.
  4. Begin lacing the ribbon through the first hole, leaving a 2" end. When the lacing is complete, tie the two ends together.
