Standard 1: Understanding and Applying Media, Techniques and Processes

• K-4 - Students use different media, techniques and processes to communicate ideas, experiences and stories.
• 5-8 - Students intentionally take advantage of the qualities and characteristics of art media, techniques and processes to enhance communication of their experiences and ideas.

Standard 3: Choosing and Evaluating a range of Subject Matter, Symbols and Ideas

• K-4 - Students select and use subject matter, symbols and ideas to communicate meaning.
• 5-8 - Students integrate visual, spatial and temporal concepts with content to communicate intended.

Develop good character by recognizing positive attitude, behavior and achievement in class. Celebrate student successes and encourage students to appreciate one another both inside and outside the classroom environment. Such activities support development of the whole child.

Supplies Used: Cardstock or Construction Paper, Glue, Ribbon, Scissors, Yarn

The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.

1. Die-cut DC Fold-a-Heart Card using dark pink cardstock or construction paper.
   
2. Die-cut the Heart again using light pink paper and adhere to the dark pink Heart.
   
3. Die-cut Love #2 Word and Tiny Flowers #2 using dark pink paper.
   
4. Adhere the Flowers and the word Love to the front of the Card (see Main Photo).
   
5. Cut a 16" length of ribbon and tie around the Heart at the fold.
