3-D Dreidel
Lesson #21097
Concept:
Make a three-dimensional Dreidel to use as a game during Hanukkah.
Objective:
Learn about Hanukkah and its traditions and games.
Curriculum: Fine Arts & Crafts
Supplies Used: Construction Paper, Double-Sided Tape, Golf Tee, Hole Punch, Pencil
The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.
1.Die-cut the XL Dreidel 3-D from blue cardstock. Fold on all the perforated lines and then lay the Dreidel pattern flat.
2.Die-cut the LG Dreidel Symbols from silver or white paper. Attach the Dreidel Symbols, one to each of the four sides of the Dreidel (Figure A).
3.Fold the side flap up. Apply glue or double-sided tape to the flap. Fold the Dreidel in half', securing the far edge tab with tape or glue (Figure B).
4.Use double-sided tape or other adhesive to adhere the four points of the Dreidel (Figure C). If desired, leave the points at the tip slightly apart and insert either a golf tee or a pencil to help the Dreidel to spin. Reinforce the tip to hold the pencil or tee secure during spinning.
5.If using a golf tee, push it through the bottom of the Dreidel from the inside to provide a strong point for spinning (Figure D). Fold the top of the Dreidel closed.
6.If using a pencil, punch a hole in the center of the top of the Dreidel (Figure E). Push the pencil through the hole and down through the tip of the Dreidel. The pencil should be long enough for the point to provide a spinning surface and the eraser end of the pencil to stick above the Dreidel and provide a handle for spinning (see Main Photo).
