Use the eclips machine and cartridges to inspire creative thinking and celebrate storybook characters.

English Language Arts: Reading for Perspective

K-12: Standard 1

  • Students read a wide range of print and non-print texts to build an understanding of texts, of themselves and of the cultures of the United States and the world; to acquire new information; to respond to the needs and demands of society and the workplace; and for personal fulfillment. Among these texts are fiction and nonfiction, classic and contemporary works.

Engage students with creative posters that inspire reading! Use the unique eclips features to create shapes of various sizes and decorate the classroom, school or community library.

Supplies Used:Cardstock or Construction Paper, Colored Pencils, Crayons, Glue or Tape (Double-Sided), Poster Board, Scissors

The teacher will cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.

  1. Cut out colored paper to create the setting and adhere to poster board.
  2. Cut embellishments from Critters cartridge to add the moon, shrubbery, stars, and trees. Adhere embellishments to the poster.
  3. Cut the Pirate Ship using the Boy & Girl cartridge. Cut pieces and layer to embellish.
  4. Cut the original and shadow phrase, Imagine, using the Critters cartridge. Layer and adhere to embellish.
  5. Cut the Fairy Princess and Pirate using the Dress Ups cartridge. Cut pieces of each shape to layer and adhere. Alternatively, cut original shapes and embellish with colored pencils or crayons.
  6. Place the shapes as desired and adhere to complete the poster.
  7. Highlight poster with colored pencils or crayons as desired (see Main Photo).
