Loving Heart Box

Concept:
Students will make a special heart gift Box.
Objective:
Create a heartfelt love box for Valentine's Day or any special occasion.
Recommended Grade Levels: 3-5, 6-8, 9-12

Supplies Used: Cardstock, Clear Plastic, Glue, Heart Brad, Plastic Slide Holder, Patterned Paper, Pop-Dots, Scissors, Tape (Double-Sided), Vellum, Glue
The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.
- Die-cut XL Box #1 from cardstock or construction paper. Cardstock will create a sturdier box (Figure A).
- Die-cut one each of the half hearts on the Box using coordinated patterned paper.
- Cut straight across the bottom of each half heart and adhere to the half heart on the Box using glue, double-sided tape or other adhesive (Figure B).
- Computer or handprint the words "love" and "amor" on clear plastic.
- Cover a plastic slide holder with the same patterned paper used for the hearts.
- Cut the word "love" and attach to the back of the slide holder.
- Attach the decorated slide holder to the front of the Box with Pop Dots (Figure C).
- Die-cut two of the smallest Tags from coordinated cardstock or construction paper. Write the word "amor" on the Tags (Figure D).
- Attach the Tiny Tags to the side of the Box using a small heart brad (see Main Photo).
- Fold the Box on the perforation lines and adhere with double-sided tape on the flap.
