Crayon Booklet of Colors
Lesson #5469

Concept:

Create a shape book for each color.

Objective:

Die-cut any die on the fold to create a hinged shape booklet.

Recommended Grade Levels: 1-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, Pre-K-K

Curriculums: English Language Arts, Foreign Language

Supplies Used: Construction Paper, Glue

The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.

1. Using two shades of the same color, or two coordinating colors, fold the two pieces of paper in half. The folded paper must be slightly wider than the Crayon Die design to be cut (Figure A). To add pages to the booklet, fold one or two sheets of lined or plain paper and put inside the cover colors.

2. Lay the folded edge of the papers just INSIDE the cutting edge on the side of the die to make the die-cut open like a card or booklet (Figure B).

3. Place the die and paper, rubber side down, into the Ellison machine and die-cut.

4. Leave one of the colored covers whole. Take the remaining color and cut along the perforated lines to create a "wrapping" for the Crayon. Adhere the "wrapping" to the Crayon (Figure C).

5. Label each Crayon Booklet with its color (see Main Photo).

6. To add the corresponding Spanish name, die-cut Tiny Tags from white cardstock or construction paper. Write the Spanish name on the Tag and use a chain to hook it over the top of the Crayon.
