Create a positive classroom environment with personalized posters celebrating attributes for academic success. Good character strengthens the classroom community, builds relationships between students and enhances self-esteem. Through this activity, the teacher enables students to recognize and set goals for good qualities within themselves. Acknowledge demonstration of good character throughout the year with praise and positive reinforcement.

Note: This lesson can be created using either Ellison AllStar or SureCut Dies.

Supplies Used: Black Marker, Cardstock, Colored Pencils, Crayons, 3-D Foam Tape, Glue

The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.

1. Cut a 12" x 12" and 11" x 11" piece of cardstock or construction paper and mat them to create the poster (Figure A).
2. Die-cut a 5 Senses: Head in tan and brown construction paper. Leave the tan Head whole and cut the hair and eyebrows from the brown Head (Figure B).
3. Adhere the hair and eyebrows to the tan Head. Use colored pencils or crayons to create facial features and embellish the face.
4. If using AllStar Dies, consider die-cutting the AllStar Head. Students can use assorted colors of construction paper, colored pencils or crayons to personalize the face and hairstyle (Figure C).
5. Adhere the head to the center of the poster.
   
6. Die-cut the Caption Boxes and label with positive character traits (Figure D).
7. Adhere the Caption Boxes around the Head. Use 3-D foam tape behind some of the caption boxes to create dimension.
8. Add the title "Head-to-Head With Character" (see Main Photo).
