Concept:

Use the Peek-A-Boo Windows die for alphabet and math projects.

Objective:

Students create a game to learn capital and lowercase letters and numerals using the Peek-A-Boo Windows die.

Meet instructional needs in English/language arts and mathematics through this fun learning game. Support students with letter recognition to develop phonemic awareness and guide them as they develop three to four letter words. Older students can brainstorm nouns, verbs, adjectives or adverbs beginning with given letters. Also, play games that build number sense and pattern recognition. Older students can explore addition, subtraction, multiplication or division concepts.

Supplies Used: Construction Paper, Adhesive Letters, Glue, Marking Pens, Scissors

The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.

Creating the ABCs and 123s Game:
1. Die-cut the Peek-A-Boo Windows from two contrasting colors of paper to create the alphabet calendar.
2. Cut along perforations of window/door on first to make individual squares. glue the cut out squares to front of window/door on second calendar (Figure A).
3. Back the calendar with contrasting paper.
4. Adhere uppercase Press-On Letters or print uppercase letters on exterior door. Adhere lowercase Press-On Letters or print lowercase letters on interior (Figure B).
5. For math facts, adhere Press-On numbers or print numbers on exterior door, then adhere Press-On dots for each number, or use marker for dots on interior.
