Create original invitations for back to school.

Students create personalized invitations welcoming parents back to school.

Design unique cards welcoming parents to Back-To-School Night. Enter Back-To-School Night information in the card to invite loved ones to a most memorable event. Students may write a special message in the card for their parent, guardian or special loved one to read.
Supplies Used: Black Marker, Black Pen, Cardstock, Glue, Lined Paper, Scissors
The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.
- Cut a piece of turquoise cardstock or construction paper into a 10" x 15" rectangle for each student. Fold in half to make a card.
- Die-cut LG Schoolhouse #1 using red and black cardstock or construction paper. Leave the red Schoolhouse whole. Cut the black Schoolhouse roof and the black top half of the cupola. Adhere these to the red Schoolhouse using glue or other adhesive (Figure A). Adhere the embellished Schoolhouse to the lower left front corner of the card.
- Die-cut LG Welcome using green paper. Adhere to the top left corner of the card. Die-cut LG Back to School using yellow paper. Adhere to the lower right front of the card (see Main Photo).
- Cut a 9" x 6" rectangle using yellow paper. Adhere to the inside of the card. Cut a sheet of lined paper slightly smaller than the yellow paper and adhere (Figure B).
- Die-cut LG Generic Girl (or LG Generic Boy) using light tan, red and yellow paper. Leave the tan Girl whole.
- Trim along the neck, hands and bottom of the dress of the red Girl. Adhere the red dress to the tan Girl. Cut a small band of yellow from the dress of the yellow Girl and adhere to the red dress (Figure C).
- Die-cut the head of the Generic Girl using brown paper. Trim the hair area and adhere to the Girl. Cut the yellow bows from the yellow Girl and adhere to the brown hair.
- Die-cut the feet of the Generic Girl using black paper. Cut shoes from the black paper and adhere to the tan Girl. Adhere the embellished Girl to the left side of the lined paper (Figure D).
- Students will print the message using black pen or marker (see Main Photo).
