As Thanksgiving approaches, students are encouraged to think about people and things they appreciate and are thankful for. Younger students could dictate their answers and older students would do their own writing. Answers will be written on a wreath of die-cut Turkeys.
Supplies Used: Construction Paper, Scissors, Tape, Glue, Colored Pens
The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.
- Use a 12" square piece of brown construction, butcher or craft paper. Fold the paper into three triangles, with the closed point of the folded triangle (the center point if the paper is opened) pointing downwards (Figure A).
- Slide the closed point of the folded triangle down the center of Turkey #2, keeping folded edges inside the cutting rule. Extend the closed point past the cutting edge of the Turkey and then die-cut (Figure B).
- Unfold the paper to create a circular wreath of Turkeys (Figure C).
- Die-cut Turkeys from several sheets of construction paper, cut away highlights, layer and adhere to Turkeys on wreath.
- Die-Cut an XL Circle and adhere behind wreath. Write desired message on center of Circle (see Main Photo).
