All-Occasion Bookmarks

Concept:

Create festive bookmarks.

Objective:

Make quick and easy bookmarks to celebrate the holidays and encourage year-round reading.

English Language Arts: Reading for Perspective

Inspire year-round reading with student-created bookmarks to suit all occasions. Create bookmarks to supplement language arts lessons, reward good behavior and academic performance or celebrate holidays.

Supplies Used: Adhesive Letters, Cardstock, Glue, Patterned Paper, Ribbon, Scissors, Tape, Patterned Paper

The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.

Plain Bookmark with Shamrocks

  1. Die-cut the AllStar Plain Bookmark using green cardstock or construction paper.
  2. Die-cut the Shamrock from the AllStar Butterfly, Flower, Leaf & Shamrock using dark green and patterned paper.
  3. Adhere the Shamrocks to the Bookmark. Trim the Shamrocks if any overlapping occurs (Figure A).
  4. Adhere the student's name using adhesive letters. Cut a 10" length of green ribbon and tie through the holes at the top of the Bookmark (see Main Photo).

Snowflake Bookmark

  1. Die-cut the AllStar Plain Bookmark using blue cardstock or construction paper.
  2. Die-cut the Snowflake from the AllStar Christmas Tree, Ornament, Snowflake & Stocking using white paper. Adhere to the top of the Bookmark (see Main Photo).

Star Bookmark

  1. Die-cut the star Bookmark from the AllStar Bookmarks using blue and gold cardstock or construction paper.
  2. Cut the star from the top of the gold Bookmark and adhere to the blue Bookmark.
  3. Place the two small gold stars in the Bookmark openings and tape to the back of the Bookmark (Figure B).

Heart Bookmark

  1. Die-cut the heart Bookmark from the AllStar Bookmarks using light red cardstock or construction paper.
  2. Die-cut the top heart area using patterned paper. Cut the heart from the top of the patterned Bookmark and adhere to the red Bookmark.
  3. Die-cut the two small hearts on the Bookmark using dark red paper.
  4. Place the two hearts in the Bookmark openings and tape to the back of the Bookmark (Figure C).
