Make an easy chart for counting objects.

Supplies Used: Adhesive Letters, Cardstock, Glue, Punches, Scissors

The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.

  1. Cut a 13" x 12" sheet of white cardstock or construction paper for the chart. Mat the poster on a slightly larger sheet of turquoise paper.
  2. Die-cut the 1 1/4" Block Alphabet Capital Letters from black paper for the title at the top of the chart.
  3. Die-cut the Basic Beginnings SM Sun from gold and yellow cardstock or construction paper. Leave the gold Sun whole. Cut the yellow Sun's circle and adhere to the gold Sun (Figure A). Adhere near the top of the chart.
  4. Die-cut two each of the SM Basic Beginnings Fish from light turquoise and dark turquoise paper. Leave the light turquoise Fish whole. Cut off the tails, fins and mouths of the dark turquoise Fish. Using various hand punches, punch holes in the dark turquoise Fish. Adhere the dark turquoise Fish to the light turquoise Fish. Use a black marker to make the eyes (Figure B). Adhere below the Sun on the chart.
  5. Die-cut three each of the Basic Beginnings Butterfly from purple and green paper. Leave the purple Butterflies whole. Cut the wings from the green Butterflies. Adhere the green Butterfly bodies to the purple Butterflies (Figure C). Adhere to the bottom of the chart.
  6. Use other dies to extend the chart to any number.
