Create a fast, fun and simple bag for student valentines.

Decorate a fun bag for storing valentines or special notes.

Standard 1: Understanding and Applying Media, Techniques and Processes
- K-4 - Students use different media, techniques and processes to communicate ideas, experiences and stories.
- 5-8 - Students intentionally take advantage of the qualities and characteristics of art media, techniques and processes to enhance communication of their experiences and ideas.
Standard 3: Choosing and Evaluating a Range of Subject Matter, Symbols and Ideas
- K-4 - Students select and use subject matter, symbols and ideas to communicate meaning.
- 5-8 - Students integrate visual, spatial and temporal concepts with content to communicate intended meaning in their artworks.
In addition to Valentines, fun bags can be used to store crayons, index cards and student names for classroom activities. Consider various use for creative bags in the classroom.
Supplies Used: Cardstock, Double-Sided Tape, Glue, Scissors, Thin Craft Wire
The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.
- Die-cut XL Bag #11 (French Fries) using red cardstock or construction paper.
- Die-cut SM Heart & Arrow using pink and white paper. Insert the white Arrow through the slits in the pink Heart. Adhere the Heart to the front of the Bag.
- Fold along the perforations lines on the Bag and adhere the sides with glue or double-sided tape.
- A handle may be made using thin craft wire. Cut a 10" length of thin craft wire. Poke the wire through the sides of the Bag near the top. Bend the ends back on the inside of the Bag (Figure A).
- Cut 4" lengths from three different ribbons. Tie the ribbons to one side of the handle (see Main Photo).
