Supplies Used: Clear Beads, Clear Shrink Film, Crystals, Glitter Glue, Hand Punch, Hot Glue Gun, Oven, Permanent Markers, Rhinestones, Ribbon, Scissors
The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.
- Die-cut the LG Clothespin Critter, Butterfly using shrink film. Punch a hole in the top of the wings using a 1/2" hand punch (Figure A).
- Color the Butterfly body using a black permanent marker. Color the Butterfly wings using a pink permanent marker.
- Following the shrink film directions, heat the body and wings and watch them shrink. Allow the Butterfly to cool completely.
- Cover the front of the Butterfly wings with glitter glue. While the glue is still wet, attach the black Butterfly body to the Butterfly wings. At this time, small yellow crystals or rhinestones may also be adhered. An alternative would be to use yellow permanent marker to make dots on the Butterfly wings and then color around the yellow dots with pink permanent marker.
- Cut two 24" lengths of thin pink ribbon. Loop one ribbon into each hole in the Butterfly wings. Pull the ribbon so the cut ends are the same length.
- Thread the ribbon through a clear plastic bead and secure loosely against the top of the wings with four knots (Figure B).
- Add three more beads to the ribbon, securing with four knots in between each bead to complete the necklace (see Main Photo).
