Concept:

Design fun door hangers featuring slogans for the 2012 Collaborative Summer Library Program.

Objective:

Personalize a decorative door hanger and inspire fun reading throughout the year.

Design personalized door hangers for decorative or practical use. Create a welcoming environment with fun, stimulating artwork. Consider for small group activities and inspire reading as a life-long skill.

Supplies Used: Cardstock or Construction Paper, Black Marking Pen, Glue, Scissors

The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.

  1. Die-cut the Door Hanger from blue cardstock or construction paper.
  2. Die-cut Clouds from white construction paper and Stars from yellow construction paper.
  3. Die-cut the Block Letters "R e a d" from colored construction paper.
  4. Adhere the Clouds, Stars, and Letters to the Door Hanger. Print the words "Dream Big" above the die-cut Letters. Highlight with black marking pen (see Main Photo).
