Tell stories about how the Troll makes good food choices, like nutritious fruit and vegetable snacks instead of candy and sweets. Discuss how nutritious foods benefit the body and make it stronger.
Supplies Used: Construction Paper, Assorted Fruits and Vegetables, Black Marking Pen, Bubble Wrap, Glue, Glue Gun, Patterned Paper, Stapler, Tissue Paper (Colored)
The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.
- Die-cut the Troll using multiple colors of construction paper. Layer and adhere pieces to embellish.
- Die-cut an Apple from Food Group #1. Save paper by placing a small piece of red and green paper under the Apple and die-cut.
- Layer the green stem onto the red apple to embellish. Adhere the Apple to the Troll's hand.
- Hand-cut a 6" diameter circle. Adhere the embellished Troll with Apple to the center of the Circle. Decorate and write "Troll Treats" with a black marking pen.
- Trim a colorful paper bag to be 6 inches tall. The bag should be at least 6 inches wide. Adhere the Troll Treats label to the center of the bag.
- Cut a strip of patterned paper to create the handle and attach to both ends of the bag with a glue gun or stapler.
- Pad the treat bag with bubble wrap and colored tissue paper (Figure A).
- Add delicious fruits and vegetables to complete the project (see Main Photo).
