Math: Number Sense and Operations

Grades 3-5: Instructional programs from Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 should enable all students to understand meanings of operations and how they relate to one another.

Use this Sliding Star to reinforce concepts in any subject area. Students can quiz each other in small groups or study independently. Engage students by exploring various learning strategies.

Supplies Used: Cardstock, Glue, Scissors, Stickers

The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.

1. Die-cut the XL Sliding Sleeve using cardstock or construction paper.
   
2. Fold on all perforations. Adhere the side tab to the opposite side of the Sleeve.
   
3. Decorate with stickers.
   
4. Hand cut a 4 1/8" x 12" strip or die-cut DC Sliding Star Strip using two contrasting colors of paper.
   
5. Leave one color whole. Cut the star from the other color and adhere to the whole Star Strip.
   
6. Print math problems or other questions on one side of the Strip, with answers on the other side for student reinforcement and self-checking.
7. Insert Sliding Star Strip into the Sliding Sleeve (see Main Photo).
