Assemble 3-D barn and animals to learn their names in different languages.

Grade Level:

Create fun learning environments where students interact and learn language concepts through play. Label objects with both languages so students learn both visually and kinesthetically. Encourage students to tell stories using objects to share in small groups or with the larger class.

Create an interactive language lesson where students play and learn names of farm animals in both English and Spanish.

Supplies Used: Cardstock, Crayons, Glue, Pen (Marking), Pens (Colored), Scissors

The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.

  1. Die-cut AllStar 3-D Cow, 3-D Horse, 3-D Lamb and 3-D Pig using various colors of cardstock. This will make a sturdier animal that will easily stand on its legs.
  2. Use crayons or colored pens to embellish and add highlights to the animals.
  3. Write the English word for an animal on one side and the Spanish word for the animal on the opposite side (Figure A).
  4. Place the legs and ears into the appropriate slits (see Main Photo).
  5. Die-cut two or three AllStar Split Rail Fence Border using brown cardstock or chipboard and glue together. Use crayons or colored pens to embellish and add highlights (see Main Photo).
  6. Die-cut two of the 3-D Barn sides using red cardstock or construction paper and two of the 3-D Barn roof using brown paper.
  7. Die-cut two each of the Barn doors using white paper. Cut along the perforated lines and adhere to the Barn doors (Figure B).
  8. Fold the tabs on the Barn roof and adhere the roof together (Figure C).
  9. Fold the tabs on the Barn sides and adhere the sides together (Figure D). Adhere the roof to the Barn sides (see Main Photo).
  10. Cut two small pieces of white paper. Write the word "Barn" on one piece and the word "Granero" on the other piece. Adhere to the front and back of the Barn (see Main Photo).
