Winter Holiday Cards

Assemble various decorative cards to celebrate winter holidays.

Grade Level:

Students can create a variety of holiday cards using the Scallop Card and holiday dies. Cards can accompany student-made gifts and are fun to display on tables or the mantelpiece during the holiday season. Teachers can create special cards for each student with warm wishes for the winter break.

Supplies Used: Baker's Twine, Buttons, Cardstock, Foam Dots (Adhesive), Glue, Pens (Colored), Ribbon, Scissors, Thread (Embroidery)

The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.

  1. Die-cut Card, Scallop using various colors of cardstock or construction paper.
  2. Die-cut Christmas Tree, Ornament, Snowflake & Stocking using various colors of paper. Colored pens may be used to embellish the shapes.
  3. Die-cut the "o" and "y" from AllStar Lowercase Letters using white paper.
  4. Cut smaller pieces of paper and adhere to the front of the Scallop Cards. Write a message on each with a colored pen.
  5. Adhere the various die-cut shapes and letters to the Cards (see Main Photo). Adhesive foam dots may be used to attach the Christmas Tree to one Card.
  6. Thread Baker's Twine or embroidery thread through various colored buttons. Adhere the buttons to the Cards.
  7. Punch two holes in the front side of one Card and thread a 7" length of ribbon through the holes (see Main Photo).
  8. Cut a slit in the top fold of another Card. Thread a 14" length of ribbon through the slit and tie around the top of the Card. Tie on an Ornament and button with Baker's Thread (see Main Photo).
  9. Cut two 14" lengths of ribbon and tie around the top front and middle front of the other two Cards (see Main Photo).
