Linking Book Report
Design reports or journals with versatile Linking Books.
Encourage students as they follow the writing process to explore anything from simple sentences to five-paragraph essays. These versatile books can support writing exercises in all major subject areas and current events. The students may be prompted to explore any genre to express ideas. Older students can explore library resources to develop research-based writing. Second-language learners can relate to given themes to develop writing skills. Through these books, the teacher can develop a unique classroom library featuring students as authors.
Use Linking Books to create fun book report banners that can be easily displayed in the classroom or collapsed for convenient storage in student portfolios.
Supplies Used: Cardstock or Construction Paper, Colored Pencils, Crayons, Ribbon or Twine, Scissors, Tape (Double-Sided)
The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.
- Die-cut Linking Books using several colors of cardstock or construction paper.
- Label each Linking Book for each part of the book report; Title, Author, Characters, Setting, Plot, Summary, Conclusion and Opinion.
- Write on each section and embellish as desired.
- Attach Linking Books by the hooks at each end and hang to display or collapse to store in a student portfolio or folder (see Main Photo).
