The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.
- Die-cut Circles 3" & 2" from various colors of patterned and plain papers. If desired, adhere a patterned paper to the back of a plain or another patterned paper.
- Die-cut six 3" Circles from plain paper. Leave one whole for the stabilizing circle.
- Fold four of the Circles in half and fold one Circle in half. Fold in half again to use as a guide for cutting.
- Align the twice-folded guide on a folded Circle and draw a line from the fold to almost the open edge of the Circle.
- Cut along the line, making sure not to cut all the way to the edge. Repeat with all the Circles.
- Die-cut four 2" Circles from patterned paper and fold so that the pattern is on the inside.
- Die-cut one 2" Circle from plain paper and fold in half. Fold in half again to use as a guide for cutting.
- Align the twice-folded guide on a folded Circle and draw a line from the fold to almost the open edge of the Circle.
- Cut along the line, making sure not to cut all the way to the edge. Repeat with all the Circles.
- Using a 1 1/8" hole punch, punch a hole in the stabilizing Circle.
- Cut an 8" length of ribbon and tie the ends together. Poke the ribbon through the hole in the Circle, drawing the knotted end to the Circle.
- Slide a 3" Circle, using the slit, onto the stabilizing Circle and open slightly. Then slide a smaller Circle inside the larger Circle and open slightly.
- Continue sliding Circles onto the stabilizing Circle, keeping them equal distance apart. You have just completed a beautiful decoration (Main Photo)!
- Use this lesson as part of a study of circles or geometry.
- Die-cut the XL Circles, using the above directions. Hang them from the ceiling or large trees.
