Supplies Used: Adhesive, Cardstock or construction paper, Crayons, markers or pens, Lined paper, Scissors
The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.
- Fold a 9" x 12" sheet of construction paper in half.
- Cut two slits in the center of the fold 1" long and about 1" apart (Figure A) to make a tab.
- Fold the tab up, and crease (Figure B). Unfold the tab, and pop the tab from the back for a pop-up page (Figure C).
- Die-cut the International Space Station, Re-entry Capsule, Re-entry Parachute, Globe, astronaut and planets from assorted colors of cardstock or construction paper.
- Decorate each shape with crayons, markers, pens or paper layers as desired.
- Adhere the decorated astronaut to a tab (Figure D). Attach the decorated Globe to the page back. Adhere lined paper under the pop-up tab (Figure E).
- Attach the decorated Re-entry Capsule to a pop-up tab, and adhere the decorated Re-entry Parachutes to the page back (Figure F)
- Adhere the decorated International Space Station to a pop-up tab (Figure G).
- Attach the decorated planets to a pop-up tab and the back of a page (Figure H).
- Place adhesive on the back of the first pop-up page, and adhere to the front of the second page (Figure I).
- Continue attaching each page to the next page.
- Cut and attach a piece of color copy paper wide enough to cover the notches on the top of the pages. Add detail with patterned paper (Figure J).
- Print on a computer or hand print a title, and attach to the front of the report (Main Photo).
