Summer Wishes Lantern

Supplies used: Glue or double-sided tape, Markers.

1. Die cut the the Summer wishes lantern from desired color cardstock, choosing 2 contrasting colors, 1 for the scalloped trim and 1 for handle strip. Die cut 2 butterflies in desired colors and butterfly bodies in a contrast color.
2. Have student write their wishes (or plans) for their summer days onto each lantern strip.
3. Using glue, adhere the last vertical strip on lantern to the first strip on the opposite side, overlapping evenly.
4. Using glue or double-sided tape, adhere the straight edge of the scalloped trim against the straight edge of the lantern’s bottom and the other trim at the top of lantern.
5. Lightly crease butterflies down the center and adhere the bodies to center of butterfly.
6. Adhere remaining strip (handle) to lantern, with ends glued to the top on the inside.
7. Adhere butterflies at top, nearest to handle’s base.
