Student uses puzzle pieces for spelling practice.
PLAY: Completed Letter/Puzzle Pieces can be put in a box or basket for storage. A single student can duplicate the spelling words using the Puzzle pieces. If two or more students play together, pieces can be divided and students will take turns starting or adding to letters to create the spelling words. If they can't place a letter, they pass their turn. If a winner is desired, the first student to use all of their letters wins.
Connect letters to explore spelling patterns and create three letter words with accuracy.
Supplies Used: Cardstock, Double-Sided Tape, Glue
The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.
- Using construction paper, cardstock or poly foam, die-cut as many center Puzzle pieces using Puzzle #5 (3 Die Set) as necessary to complete each week's spelling words (Figure A).
- Using the 2" Block Style Capital Letters, die-cut the Letters necessary to create each week's spelling words. Cut the Letters from the same material as the Puzzle pieces. If a variety of colors were used for the Puzzle pieces, cut the Letters from black so they will stand out from the background (Figure B).
- Adhere the Letters on the "middle" Puzzle pieces with glue, double-sided tape or Hold the Foam glue (see Main Picture).
