It's pumpkin season and you know what that means: jack-o'-lanterns! One of my favorite childhood memories is carving pumpkins into a spooky, funny, or adorable jack-o'-lantern. Hello everyone, it's Chad here from the Male Kindergarten Teacher Blog! Creativity in the classroom is very important to me. I try to make each lesson and craft as engaging as possible and allow my students to create their own masterpieces. Today I am excited to share with you an adorable pumpkin craft that is sure to get your students excited about Halloween and allow them to create their own works of art - minus the ooey gooey mess! I am also excited to share how you can use this adorable pumpkin die to create a fun teacher gift. Let's get started!
Ellison SuperStar Machine
Sizzix Bigz Die - Pumpkin (#A10169)
Optional: Felt, scrapbooking paper, coffee mug, basket filler, and items to place in coffee mug
Use the SuperStar machine to cut the pumpkin die cuts from cardstock. I die cut my pumpkins using orange cardstock, but you can use white cardstock too! This is a great project that students can color with colored pencils, crayons, or markers!
Add googly eyes and use a Sharpie marker to add a nose and mouth. For older students, have your students cut out their mouth, nose, and eyes from black construction paper or cardstock. Challenge your students by seeing who can come up with the scariest, cutest, or most funny pumpkin face!
Here's an example of how a student can use just markers to create a fun jack-o'-lantern! The possibilities of how to decorate this pumpkin die are endless! Let your students decide! Die cut a brown pumpkin and cut off the stem to add a brown stem to your pumpkin masterpiece.
For younger students, have them use buttons of various shapes and sizes to create a pumpkin face.
Use this pumpkin die for students to create a classroom book report on a character from a story or movie. Check out this fun, adorable scarecrow that I created for The Wizard of Oz.
When you're obsessed with buttons like me, why not use them to create a pumpkin decoration? How fun is this? This would make a perfect teacher gift or a nice fall decorations for around the house.
Brighten any teacher's or colleague's day by giving them a jack-o-lantern themed Halloween gift! Fill a coffee mug with delicious goodies such as: pens, gift cards, tape, or some sweet treats!
